Meet Kannapolis
Kannapolis sits on the line between Cabarrus and Rowan counties, northwest of Concord. It grew up around Cannon Manufacturing, the textile mill J.W. Cannon opened in 1908, which by 1914 was the world's largest producer of sheets and towels. Today the center of the city is home to the North Carolina Research Campus, a public-private venture focused on food, nutrition and biotech research. US 29 (Cannon Boulevard) runs through the city, and I-85 bypasses it on the south and east with five exits.

Kannapolis is the hometown of the Earnhardt racing family and headquarters of the Haas F1 Team. The city is also home to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, and the Gem Theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Beyond your front door
Village Park has the county's largest amphitheater, home to a summer concert and movie series, plus a carousel, train and splash pad. Bakers Creek Park offers picnic shelters, a large playground, tennis and volleyball courts, a lighted softball field and greenway access; the Bakers Creek Greenway links with the 8th Street Greenway and Village Park to form a 2-mile loop. Veterans Park downtown has brick walkways, fountains and green space for concerts and events. Atrium Health Ballpark, home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Low-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox), is open as a park on non-game days with a concourse walking track.
