Cornelius grew from fewer than 2,600 residents in 1990 to over 31,000 in 2020. Western Cornelius sits right on Lake Norman. Because the town is largely built out, new construction comes in smaller, targeted communities rather than big master plans — which is why it pays to have someone tracking every release.

  • Road work to know about (Town of Cornelius project timeline, June 2026): intersection improvements at West Catawba Ave and Torrence Chapel Rd (into 2028), the Bailey Road extension to US 21, and West Catawba Ave widening from Jetton Rd to NC 73 (planned 2027–2030).
